Most fireplace glass doors are made of tempered glass with either ceramic or anodized aluminum frames. Glass is placed on the door so that the fire can still be appreciated even with the door closed. Most of these fireplace doors can be bought stock - meaning that most of the door that are for sale can be purchased off the rack and installed with minimal changes. However, the designs on these doors are almost alike in such a way that they can all be described as "simple and elegant." And although these new simplistic designs would probably look good on modern fireplace designs, these may be incompatible with the rustic brick fireplaces. A masonry fireplace door would probably look better with a frame made to look like antique brass.
Once you have finished cleaning your chimney, the next step in cleaning your fireplace to prepare it for the coming warmer months, is to clean out the firebox. You will need to give your firebox walls a good brushing with a nice stiff brush. Knock down all the loose soot and ash that has gotten stuck to the brick walls and flue. Remove your fireplace grate and set it to the side on a newspaper. Keep it from touching your finished flooring, as it will leave a nice sooty footprint. You will clean this and your other fireplace tools in the next step. Using your fireplace shovel, you will need to scoop out as much of the completely cooled ash and the chunks of unburned wood as you can. Using your fireplace brush, sweep the remainder of the ash onto your shovel and into an ash bucket.
If you have a sitting arrangement where you have made it possible for people to pretty much focus on one point, then you have a great place for a fireplace. Its just like arranging a room around a television. Only this time, its a different room where no fireplace exists. Its just a nice place to talk and enjoy each others company with a fireplace...in the middle of the room. Back Yard Thats right! Take it outside. Enjoy the fireplace experience in your backyard. Put it on the patio or your deck. Anywhere you think you would like to have some company, build yourself a nice fireplace. Of course, you can get a little more involved with the fireplace construction and build yourself a nice rock or brick structure to house your fireplace insert. Let it stand about six feet tall if you want. Its up to you. Learn how to build it and your company will come. Those are all great ideas. But, give your own home some thought. If you have an area, any area that you think would look nice with a fireplace, chances are you are right. The only stupid place for a fireplace, is that place where there isnt one yet.
4. Take Your Fireplace Candelabra Outside - Candelabra made for your fireplace are usually pretty sturdy. They are generally made out of wrought-iron or some other very durable material. This makes them ideal for use outside. Try using your fireplace candelabra as a centerpiece on your patio table. If you have a long picnic table, you can use a candelabrum that is designed for a smaller fireplace. How about using a couple candelabra to decorate either side of your front door, or back door? If you are worried about your candles blowing out from gusts of wind, you can use votive candles surrounded by glass, but your candelabra cannot have center pins for this to work.
