Maintenance and Care Most of the time electric fireplaces are not as demanding as the traditional ones when it comes to maintenance. In fact, most of the time electric fireplaces only demand maintenance when it comes to keeping the screen at least dust free and ensuring the electricity outlet is functioning as it should be. Therefore, most of the time fireplaces demand a lot of caution when it comes to ensuring that the power supply to the fireplace does not lead to blowing up of a fuse. Actually, to be on the safe side it is highly advisable to consult your electrician on the power supply to your fireplace and let him or her ensure that the wiring of the fireplace is correct. This also means keeping all the flammable objects far from the fireplace and make sure anyone living under the same roof understands this caution.
Even ventless gas fireplace fire boxes come with a spark arrestor curtain, chain-mail screen to add to the illusion of a wood burning fireplace with the convenience of a gas log installation and remote control use. Custom fireplaces will have inconsistencies in width, height and fireplace depth. While fireplace screens are produced in standardized sizes, not all fireplaces will be that exact and the fire-screen may over-shoot the size. Spark arrestor curtains can be custom made for specific rods to fit inside any custom fireplace opening but free standing fireplace screens are available in standard finished and colors. When selecting a fireplace screen most often the room décor, and style and fitting the size of the fireplace are primary considerations. A fireplace screen can be as ornate or as simple as the style of the room dictates. A fireplace screen can add to the beauty of a room while assuring that the unprotected floor or carpeting is safe from flying sparks and the fire itself kept apart from curious pets and small children.
Once you have removed all the dirt and soot, you may decide to add an extra sparkle to your freshly cleaned fireplace tools. You can do this by polishing with a brass polisher. Follow all label instructions and warnings when applying this to your tools. You can now enjoy your clean fireplace for the rest of the season, without worrying about flying dust or ash or about a dangerous creosote fire breaking out in the fireplace. Do not forget to close the flue to prevent any drafts and to keep your firebox free from debris. Decorating your fireplace is a pleasure once it is all clean. The fun part is deciding what you will use. How about creating a fresh look for your fireplace by getting a new fireplace screen? There are so many options out there as far as design and style. Some of my favorites are single panel fireplace screens. With a single panel fireplace screen, you do not need to have much room on your hearth. Because it is a flat fireplace screen, it can sit right up against the firebox and takes up very little precious space. As for the design, how about adding the fresh look of spring with a leaf fireplace screen? If you really love that look, you can even get a matching leaf fireplace tool set and log holder to go with it!
While it is true that a fireplace insert is great for bringing life back to that old traditional or gas fireplace you have sitting dormant in the living room, a fireplace insert can do so much more for your home. If you have ever looked around your home and wondered how much it would cost to put a fireplace in a certain wall, room or area, you will be surprised when you hear the answer. While construction and labor costs for a traditional or gas fireplace can cost upwards of ten thousand dollars, you can actually have a fireplace built for merely hundreds if you use a fireplace insert and some materials from your local hardware store. Now, I cant deny that it is nice to have a wall mounted gas fireplace that lights with a simple remote. But, a wall mounted gel fireplace can be installed in merely hours for thousands of dollars less.
